Damian Wilmot

 

Damian Wilmot is the Senior Vice President and Chief Risk and Compliance Officer at Vertex Pharmaceuticals. He is responsible for leading the company’s enterprise risk management, global compliance (the Office of Business Integrity and Ethics), business continuity and resilience, privacy office, information governance, global litigation and global employment law functions. Before taking on his current role in 2017, Mr. Wilmot was the Chief Litigation Counsel, and he also served as the company’s interim Head of Human Resources.

His previous professional experience includes serving as the Chief Litigation Counsel for another global pharmaceutical company and as a Litigation Partner with Goodwin Procter LLP. Mr. Wilmot previously was an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Massachusetts and worked as a judicial law clerk on the State of Connecticut Supreme Court.

He has served on the boards and advisory committees of numerous nonprofit, civic and for-profit organizations, including the New Commonwealth Racial Equity and Social Justice Fund, Fidelity Charity, HarborOne Bank, Trinity College, the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, the Boys and Girls Club of Boston and the Massachusetts Judicial Nominating Commission (by gubernatorial appointment).

In 2021, Boston Magazine recognized Mr. Wilmot as one of Boston’s 100 most influential Bostonians. In 2020, the Boston Business Journal honored him on its annual “Power 50” list. He has also been recognized repeatedly as one of Boston’s most influential people of color in health care and life sciences, and in 2022, the Boston Bar Foundation awarded him its annual Public Service Award for his dedication to advancing inclusion, diversity and equity within Boston’s business community; his leadership across various nonprofit, civic and for-profit organizations; and his passion for bettering our communities.

Mr. Wilmot is a graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, Conn. and Suffolk University Law School in Boston.
